Employee Community Involvement Spotlight: Al Buckle, Senior Director, Operations

By May 27, 2024July 9th, 2024Life at Teranet

At Teranet, we take pride in highlighting our team members who are making a positive impact in their communities. Today, we’re excited to share the inspiring story of Al Buckle, our Senior Director of Operations, who believes in connecting communities through the power of giving back.

What does community mean to you?

“To me, a community can be many things—from people living close together and supporting each other to folks with common interests across the globe meeting, sharing, and doing good. It’s all about connecting communities.”

How do you connect with charity throughout the year?

Al channels his passion for classic cars into charity work throughout the year. “I participate in a number of classic car shows. The proceeds of these shows go to a variety of local charities, such as the Georgina Food Bank. It’s a way to connect with like-minded people while supporting a good cause.”

Which charities are you passionate about working with?

Al and his family are committed to supporting two key charities on a semi-regular basis:

Georgina Community Food Pantry:
The Georgina Community Food Pantry is a charitable organization dedicated to providing emergency food relief and support services to individuals and families in need within the Georgina community. Al and his family donate all of their Scene Points earned through various purchases to the food pantry via their local Sobeys grocery store. “It’s surprising how much that can add up to over the course of a year. In addition, we often purchase prepared bags of groceries for the food pantry via the same Sobeys.”

Shades of Hope Wildlife Refuge:
Shades of Hope Wildlife Refuge is a registered charity that provides care for injured, orphaned, and sick wild animals with the ultimate goal of returning them to their natural habitats. “Often, when we sell household items we no longer need on Marketplace or Kijiji, we allocate the proceeds to the rescue. It’s found money, so why not?”

Why do you think connecting with your community throughout the year and during the holiday season is important?

“Small gifts that are easy to give make a big difference if enough people open their hearts and their wallets,” says Al. He firmly believes that giving back to the community throughout the year, and especially during the holiday season, can create meaningful change for those in need.

Inspiring a Culture of Giving

Al Buckle’s commitment to his community is a shining example of how passion and generosity can come together to create a positive impact. By sharing his story, we connect our team members to the values that drive us forward—connecting communities through meaningful contributions.
