At Teranet, we are proud to have some of the most talented and passionate employees working collaboratively to support our clients every day. Through Teranet Stories, we share why our employees have chosen to work at Teranet and what motivates them to connect, grow and thrive as individuals and as team members within the organization.
In today’s ‘a Day in the Life of’ edition, we learn a bit about Theresa Corindia, Training Program Leader at Teranet.
Q. How did you decide that you wanted to pursue a career in customer service?
A. I didn’t exactly pursue a career in customer service, an opportunity was presented, and I went for it. In 2000, I was working at one of the implementation sites and looking for a new challenge. I saw a job posting for Customer Service and applied.
I had no idea how much I would love working with customers, nor did I realize my affinity for troubleshooting and training. In my 13 years working in Customer Service, I had many opportunities to work on different projects!
Q. What are the key responsibilities in your role?
A. As the Training Program Leader, I am responsible for training for the Real Estate vertical. This includes planning and hosting events, creating support materials such as user guides, best practices, and, most recently, videos. I am also responsible for the account management of several Real Estate Boards.
Q. How does a typical day look like for you?
A. Most days I have at least one training engagement for clients via Zoom. This includes instructional webinars that are promoted online, group training sessions for organizations, guess speaking opportunities for office meetings and virtual events. When I’m not hosting sessions, I answer emails, work on planning events, create support materials, and attend meetings.
I also work very closely with the Product, Marketing, and Customer Service teams as new features, enhancements, and issues come up. As a product expert, I’m often called on by internal teams to help new employees learn about our products and the customer experience.
In Real Estate there are many amazing new initiatives and each day goes by very fast!
Q. What keeps you motivated to go to work (virtually that is) every day?
A. I love my job because I get to engage with our customers to help them learn how to build their businesses using our products. Before we started working virtually, I travelled a fair amount for live engagements, and while I miss these opportunities, it has given me the time to build out the virtual training program.
I am a part of an amazing team and we work extremely well together. In some ways working virtually has offered the opportunity to collaborate closer than in the office. It is a real pleasure to plan, collaborate, and work together with my peers.
I feel like I learn something new every day from our clients and my work colleagues.
Q. What made you join Teranet?
A. A childhood friend told me about Teranet (thankfully) and suggested that I apply for a position here when I was looking for a career change.
Q. What do you enjoy the most about working at Teranet?
A. The opportunity to grow and learn.
I have been very fortunate to be in roles that are always changing and offer me the opportunity to try new things and grow my capabilities. It’s allowed me to discover and develop skills I didn’t know I have.
Q. When it comes to training and development, which factors should every training manager take into consideration?
A. In my opinion there are four important factors that every training manager should take into consideration when planning training: the client, the information they need, how it will help them in their business, and best practices for adult learning.
Q. What trends are you seeing today in training? How important is the role of technology?
A. The role of technology is very important and has significantly changed over the past year. Pre-COVID live training was the most popular option with our clients.
One trend is to offer more video options such as short video tutorials. To build out the self-assist options, we plan to offer pre-recorded webinars and snack-sized tips and tricks. We are also exploring digital adoption platforms.
Q. What are you doing when you’re not working?
A. I love the outdoors and nature! In the winter months, I walk, hike, snowshoe, and skate. In warmer weather, I love to explore trails or anywhere close to water. I recently purchased an inflatable paddleboard/kayak and can not wait to start using it.
Q. Who is the one person, living or dead, you would love to have dinner with?
A. It would be interesting to go back in time and have dinner with myself to share some of the things I’ve learned over the years personally and professionally. I know I’ve grown and changed through my career at Teranet.
